They Headed West
Early pioneers who headed west from Sydney found themselves settling on the fertile soil of Blackman's Swamp Creek 124 miles inland. Blackman's Swamp settlement was officially proclaimed as Orange in 1846 and grew to become one of the largest inland cities of central NSW. On this site we follow a number of pioneer families and their ancestral linage. We see glimpses of their lives through local newspapers during the years 1820-1920.
